An Open response to Allan Bolstad EFCL Executive Director:

As this is an election year, and I, Dave Dowling, am a Candidate for Mayor of Edmonton, I will have to decline your invitation. My principles and the fundemental principles of Democracy, make this so.

To have one Candidate speak as a guest speaker, while the others are not allowed to, smacks of partisian politics, and I am ashamed that the EFCL is been used in such a manner that is contradictory to every thing good that the EFCL stands for. . . .

If you have been impartial, and invited every Candidate for Mayor of Edmonton to speak, at this event, I would have attended. But it looks as if you have not done this. For I seen nothing in that invitation about me or the other Candidates for Mayor of Edmonton also been a guest speaker. . . It looks as if you and the EFCL are only endorsing one Candidate. . . . for Mayor of Edmonton. . .

This discriminatory partisian policy of allowing just your choice for Mayor of Edmonton, to speak at such a function during an election is just too partial for me to endorse, with my participation. To have one Candidate speak as a guest speaker, while the other candidates are regulated to just been guests, like everyone else, is a policy of candidate discrimination, that exhaults one candidate above the rest, that I can never support, no matter how many votes it costs me.

Using an official EFCL function for one candidates politicing, while willfully excluding the other Candidates from speaking, is wrong, horrid, wretched, and In My Opinion an abuse of the EFCL finances, time and personel.

Dear Dave Dowling,

Please accept this note as our invitation to you and a guest to attend our Community League Showcase, which is set to kick off at 7 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 27 at the Aviation Hangar in Fort Edmonton Park.

This event is a golden opportunity to learn about the wonderful programs, services and events community leagues are providing and to network with representatives of the city’s 150 leagues.

In addition to community leagues, we have invited the city’s area councils to take part in the program and have forwarded invitations to our many partner agencies, all of the people seeking election to city council this fall and the Edmonton media.

Mayor .”name deleted”. . .  has already confirmed his attendance and will be one of our guest speakers.

Here are the particulars of the night:

Doors Open:                  7:00 p.m.

Showcase Presentation:7:45 p.m. – 8:45 p.m.

Mixer:                           8:45 p.m. 10:00 p.m.
