Where is the money

I, Dave Dowling say that: The so called plan offered by the current Mayor, that whines how he needs a $13,000 raise this year, and only him and god knows how much next year, is a 1/4 attempt of the meakly skill of follower, that he’s offered to first time home buyers. I, dave Dowling say: What a trap, delay land payments for five years. And I, Dave Dowling say: how discriminatory, to only offer first time home buyers a 1/4 temporary measue to lower the cost of living and thereby improving the quality of life.

I, Dave Dowling also say that a real plan, with real leadership, that is a real full measure, that discriminates against no one and offers relief to everyone, would have been to get EPCOR to lower thier profits. Rounded off to one significant digit, Last Year EPCOR, had close to $1,000,000,000.00 (One Billion dollars) Profit!  Page 60 at http://www.edmonton.ca/CityGov/corpservs/city_of_edmonton_annual_report06.pdf shows this to be ever so true. Close to one billion dollars profit. . . per year!  If EPCOR gave back 1/3 of all that profit. A mere $300,000,000.00 (three hundred million dollars) every homeowner would get relief at the bank, while paying the bills. EPCOR is 100 % owned by the City of Edmonton. Why the Mayor wants to double tax so much with EPCOR bills is beyond my understanding. perhaps it’s to pay for his and councils 21% raise! I, Dave Dowling know and say that: A decrease on the EPCOR bill is a non-discriminatory plan that gives all homeowners an equal chance for equal tax relief, no matter if they are a first, second, third or infinite time home owner or renter!

EPCOR taxed the citizens of Edmonton for a whopping $200,000,000.00 (two hundred million dollars) profit the year before last year.

EPCOR, the 100% City owned corporation taxes Edmonton for vast amounts of profit. . . . every bill.

EPCOR, which is charging record amounts right now, will probably have RECORD PROFITS from thier policy of double taxation this year too.

With approx. 300,000 houses in Edmonton, a $300,000,000.00 (three hundred million dollars) tax refund from EPCOR would resut in approx $1,000 (one thousand dollars) savings per year per house.

Allthough  84 dollars per month is no where near the Mayors $13,000 per year raise, $84 per month in savings is something every homeowner would appreciate having.

Leadership the way it should be, offering tax relief to all, not just a select few.
